LeBrew × YiNianYisu: Witnessing the Temperature and Purity of Baking with Technology in Nanning, China

In the world of coffee, roasting is not only an art of fire and aroma, but also a dialogue between data and the senses.

In 2025, LeBrew partnered with YiNianYisu from Yunnan to jointly complete the Grand Final of the 3rd YiNianYisu Cup Coffee Roasting Competition · Nanning Station.

As the official sponsor of color meters and coffee roasting smoke-removal equipment, LeBrew introduced its innovative detection instruments and environmentally friendly catalytic smoke-removal technology to a stage where tradition meets modernity.

YiNianYisu: A Driving Force Behind Yunnan Specialty Coffee

YiNianYisu is a comprehensive enterprise deeply involved in the entire coffee value chain.

From SCA-certified training and green coffee trading to origin project management and the promotion of organic and standardized cultivation, they not only help Yunnan coffee gain global recognition but also highlight the importance of scientific management at the origin.

For years, YiNianYisu has been a leader in coffee education and the standardization of specialty green beans. From selection to roasting, they advocate “using science to support flavor and using data to guide quality.” This aligns perfectly with LeBrew’s brand philosophy—“making coffee testing smarter, more accurate, and more accessible.”

Thus, when the two met on the roasting stage, it was destined to be a perfect fusion of technology and sensory craft.

Technology on Stage: LeBrew Devices at the Competition

For this Grand Final, LeBrew brought two core products:
  • RoastSee Fusion All-in-One Coffee Analyzer
  • LeBrew’s New-Generation Catalytic Coffee Roasting Smoke Remover (prototype)

As LeBrew’s flagship intelligent analyzer, RoastSee Fusion integrates water activity, moisture content, and density into one device, completing measurements in under one minute. It provides roasters with precise on-site data, offering scientific support for roasting decisions.

Meanwhile, the all-new catalytic smoke remover became one of the highlights of the event.

A Breakthrough in Smoke Removal: Catalytic Technology That Makes Air Clean Again

In traditional roasting environments, heavy smoke inevitably accompanies aroma.

Activated carbon systems require frequent maintenance; electrostatic systems still leave noticeable smoke odor—especially problematic when competitions are held in enclosed exhibition centers; and afterburner systems are often impossible to deploy due to lack of gas supply.

To solve these long-standing issues, the LeBrew R&D team introduced the three-way catalytic technology used in automobile exhaust purification into the coffee roasting field—after years of experimentation.

This innovative catalytic smoke-removal system uses high-temperature catalytic materials to break down organic particulates and tar in the smoke, converting them into harmless CO₂ and water vapor.

During its trial use at the Nanning competition venue, it delivered impressive results:
  • Safety: The outer shell temperature remained below 70°C throughout continuous operation, ensuring safe accidental contact.
  • Energy Efficiency: LeBrew’s innovative thermal-cycling structure significantly reduced power consumption compared to traditional electric systems.
  • Convenience: Simple, intuitive operation—ready to use at startup with no complex configuration.
  • Advanced Structure: Built-in floating air-duct design prevents negative impact on roaster airflow or drum pressure.
  • Stable Performance: Across two days and 16 hours of roasting, the system ran smoothly with clean, nearly odorless air.
One contestant remarked after the competition:“For the first time, we roasted in an enclosed venue where the air remained clear and breathable.”

Data Meets Intuition: The Precision of RoastSee Fusion

Beyond the smoke remover, LeBrew’s RoastSee Fusion All-in-One Analyzer also sparked widespread discussion among participants and judges.

Fusion enables rapid measurement of moisture content, water activity, and density for both green and roasted beans, helping roasters better understand bean condition and roasting reactions.

In the past, many roasters relied on experience to judge bean dryness.

Now, with Fusion’s data support, they can combine intuition with measurable indicators to achieve more consistent and controlled roasting performance.

At the competition venue, Fusion’s portability and accuracy were highly praised:
  • No calibration consumables needed for moisture and density measurement
  • Clean and intuitive user interface
  • Instant-on measurement; water activity testing takes only three minutes
  • Stable, traceable data output
Fusion transforms roasting from a purely sensory craft into a repeatable and optimizable science.

Technology and Tradition: Two Languages in Harmony

YiNianYisu embodies the earthy strength and human warmth of Yunnan coffee origins, while LeBrew contributes the rational power of industrial design and spectroscopic science.

On the competition floor, contestants meticulously recorded temperature curves second by second; judges smelled, tasted, and analyzed with precision; and LeBrew’s devices quietly captured invisible data—color values, smoke reduction, moisture, and density.

When sensory intuition meets measurable data, when experience converses with algorithms, the competition becomes more than a battle of skills—it becomes a microcosm of the coffee industry’s march toward intelligent, data-driven development.

Continued Innovation: LeBrew’s Future Direction

LeBrew firmly believes that every step in the coffee process deserves to be understood with greater precision.

From the RoastSee C1 Color Meter to the Fusion All-in-One Analyzer, and to the catalytic smoke-removal system now under development, LeBrew is committed to building a full-chain coffee solution—from quality detection to environmental management.

Looking ahead, LeBrew will continue working with global roaster manufacturers, coffee academies, and competition platforms to advance the standardization and intelligentization of coffee detection equipment.

The commercial version of the catalytic smoke remover is scheduled for official release in 2026, offering cleaner, safer, and more energy-efficient solutions for roasting studios, competition venues, and home roasters.

Conclusion: Let Technology Become the New Foundation of the Coffee Industry

From the competition floor in Nanning, we witnessed a clear trend— coffee is no longer solely the stage of artisans; it is becoming the laboratory of scientists.

Through these innovative devices, LeBrew hopes more people can understand coffee in a more scientific and environmentally conscious way— allowing every roast to express its purest flavors, supported by accurate data.

The 2025 YiNianYisu Cup Roasting Competition has concluded successfully, but the story of China’s coffee technology has only just begun.
