VIDEO REVIEW

The A2 mod in action

Lance Hedrick takes a closer look at the FEMOBOOK A2 × Pietro setup.

Pietro Pro burrs. A different daily workflow.

Explore the Pietro Pro flavor profile with motorized grinding, a tilted setup and a hands-on clearing routine.

01

58mm Pietro Pro burrs

The highly-regarded Pietro flat burr set, now grinding inside a compact A2 — grinder and burrs supplied separately.

02

18.75 µm per click

Fine, repeatable adjustment using the A2's own click mechanism — start at 34 clicks from burr lock, then dial in to taste.

03

45° tilt workstation

Use the tilt stand: angled bean delivery helps prevent regrinding, so the grind stays cleaner.

04

No RDT

Don't mist the beans — moistened beans stick to the inner walls of the A2. Keep it dry.

05

CNC aluminum adapter

CNC-machined aluminum components house the burrs and support the assembly.

06

Low-fines flavor profile

Lance Hedrick described clarity, juiciness and sweetness with a rounded body. Results depend on coffee, settings and brewing.

Made for two kinds of people

Whether you already own the burrs, or already own the grinder — both roads lead here.

Have a Pietro?

Love the Pro burr flavor but hate the cranking? Drop your burrs into this mod and let the A2's motor do the work. Your Pietro body can finally sit aside.

The grinding experience

Slow-fed, low-RPM flat burrs — different rhythm, rewarding results.

Slow & steady

In Lance Hedrick’s test, a 15g dose took over a minute at approximately 60 rpm — plenty of time to heat water and prep your brewer.

Shake & tap

Low RPM means some retention — give it a shake and a few taps before you're done to clear the last grounds.

Tilt for dense roasts

Ultra-light, super-dense beans can stall on fine settings — tilting and restarting helped in the reviewer’s tests; results vary with beans and settings.

Brew with confidence

Grounds may look unusual — that's expected and consistent. Trust the cup: judge your dial-in by the brewed coffee.

FAQ

Does the kit include a grinder?

The kit includes the upper and lower bearings, main housing, feeder plate, rotating burr carrier and catch cup. Supply your own FEMOBOOK A2 and 58 mm Pietro Pro burr set. The stand files are available as a separate free download.

Which burrs does it support?

Pietro burrs only — the 58mm Pietro Pro flat burr set. 64mm burrs and other brands' burrs are not supported.

Do I need to use the 45° stand?

It's strongly preferred: the tilted workflow helps prevent regrinding. Both stand versions are free 3D-print files on MakerWorld.

Why no RDT?

Moistened beans stick to the inner walls of the Femobook A2. Grind dry — it's part of what makes this setup work.

Where do I start with grind settings?

Start at 34 clicks from burr lock and adjust from there. Each click moves the burrs 18.75 µm. Fine settings can increase motor load; this is not a guarantee of espresso performance.

Is it slow to grind?

Yes by design — roughly a minute for 15g at ~60 rpm, because it's a slow-fed flat burr setup. Shake and tap to clear retention. Timing varies with roast, grind setting and feeding.

Can it stall?

Very light, dense beans at fine settings can stall. Tilting and restarting helped in Lance Hedrick’s tests. Do not assume every coffee or setting will work equally well.

What should I know about the magnetic cup?

The reviewed version had limited magnetic holding force, especially with grounds between the contact surfaces. Keep those surfaces clean and check the cup is secure before grinding.

How do I check pricing and availability?

See the purchase section above for current pricing, availability and pre-order shipping information.
